PLEASE HELP THE 5TH GRADE CLASS PROVIDE FOOD FOR LOCAL KIDS IN NEED
Each year the 5th grade class participates in a service project to hopefully learn a little about community service and giving back. This year we are excited to announce the 5th grade service project will be Lunch for the Break – in partnership with the Issaquah Food Bank. Our 5th grade class will serve as student ambassadors at Cascade Ridge for the Lunch for the Break program. Each 5th grade classroom will be paired with a younger grade level to explain/promote the program to, as well as be school-wide project (cheer) leaders! This is a school-wide event and we need your food donations!
What is Lunch for the Break?
The program helps kids in Issaquah and Sammamish, by providing lunches/snacks to kids who don’t have enough food during breaks, because they are missing out on lunches normally provided at school. Lunch for the Break collects specific food items to then distribute to families in need. For more information about the program, visit: https://www.lunchforthebreak.com/
PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING FOOD TO FAMILIES IN OUR OWN COMMUNITY…
Collection dates are MARCH 19 THRU MARCH 30. There will be collection boxes/bins in the pod area of each grade level (not in the classroom). The following list of requested food items is specifically formulated by the food bank for this program – it is important to remember that this program functions a bit differently than a traditional food collection – these are the ONLY items we are collecting. Please bring any/all of the items listed for your grade level and as much quantity as you would like of any/all items. The food bank only asks that we only donate the size requested – for example, please bring boxes of 6 granola bars – not Costco sized boxes of 36. If you have kids in multiple grade levels, you are welcome to donate for both lists of items. (Each 5th grade class donates the same items as their assigned grade level.)
